Achievements of the Council

1982:
Start of the supply of breeding pairs of the conventional SAM colony of Kyoto University.
1984:
Foundation of the Council for SAM Research. Sponsorship of the First Annual Meeting on SAM at Kyoto University. Establishment of a specific pathogen-free (SPF) SAM colony at Takeda Chemical Industries Ltd.. Start of the supply of breeding pairs of the SPF SAM colony.
1985:
Sponsorship of the first training course for assessment of the grading score of senescence (16 times as of 2003, at Kyoto Univ.).
1988:
Sponsorship of the First SAM Kyoto Symposium at Kyoto University [ Proceedings of the First SAM Kyoto Symposium, T. Takeda, T. Matsuo, I. Akiguchi & M. Hosokawa (eds), Fuji Printing Business Company, Kyoto, 1988] .
1994:

1997:
Enactment of the regulations of the Council for Japanese investigators. Start of the periodical publication of a circular for Japanese members of the Council. Establishment of a SPF SAMP1 (SAMP1//Ka) colony at Kagoshima University and start of the supply of their breeding pairs.
1999:
Launching of homepage (Japanese) of the Council (http://samrc.md.shinshu-u.ac.jp).
2001:
Participation of the breeders, Japan SLC Inc. and Harlan/International Biogerontology Research Institute (IBRI) in a project wherein they were entrusted with the production and distribution of SAM mice by the Council.
2002:
Stop of the supply of breeding pairs of SAM and start of the consignment distribution of the SAM model.
2003:
